Beyond auditory perception, the ability to use other physical senses to feel music remains

a powerful means of engagement, especially for the deaf or hard-of-hearing. My thesis explores how deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals—especially cochlear implant users—experience music on a personal and emotional level based on their own experiences. Using research, inspiration and interviews with cochlear implant users, I create illustrations and GIF motion visuals to portray their sensory perceptions, emotions, and the imagined connections they form with sound. Designed for editorial contexts— including editorial illustrations, GIFs, and feature visuals— this series invites broader conversations around accessibility, inclusion, and the emotional depth of experience on music beyond sound.​​​​​​
